With tremendous support from the local music community, the Marin Rocks 2009 Gala, featuring performances by Narada Michael Walden, Lydia Pense, Nick Gravenites, Maria Muldaur, Mario Cipollina, Jose Neto and many more helped raise awareness and funds. In September 2009, a benefit concert featuring Metallica in their first ever Marin County performance along with local rockers Moonalice raised over $250,000 and put the Music Center on the international map.
